One Team. One Process. One Finished Backyard Home.

Building an ADU involves much more than delivering a home. Backyard Home Company manages every phase of the project, including property evaluation, engineering, permitting, factory coordination, engineered foundations, installation, utility connections, and final inspections. Our design-build approach gives you one experienced team guiding your project from the first consultation through move-in. This reflects the company's documented end-to-end process for manufactured ADUs.

See How Your ADU Comes Together

Step 1. Property Assessment

We begin by understanding your property before recommending the right ADU.

Every property is different. Before recommending a floor plan, our team evaluates lot size, access, existing structures, utility locations, topography, setbacks, and local zoning requirements. This allows us to recommend the manufactured ADU that best fits your property and your long-term goals.

Step 2. Planning

Designing the Right Solution.

After evaluating your property, we develop a project strategy that aligns with your goals, budget, and local development requirements. We help determine the most suitable floor plan, placement, and construction approach before moving into engineering.

Step 3. Engineering Every Detail

Professional engineering ensures your ADU is designed for your specific property. Depending on the project, this may include structural engineering, civil engineering, soils reports, grading plans, utility planning, and energy documentation required for approval. Company materials describe preparing civil engineering, geotechnical reports where required, building plans, and approved foundation plans before permitting.

Step 4. Financing your ADU

Making Your Project More Affordable.

We help you explore financing options that align with your budget and project goals. Our team can connect you with experienced financing partners and provide the project information needed to evaluate available loan programs, costs, and payment options.

Step 5. We Handle the Permits

Permitting can be one of the most time-consuming parts of an ADU project. The Backyard Home Company prepares the required documentation and coordinates the approval process with the appropriate city or county agencies so your project can move forward efficiently.

Step 6. Factory Consultation

Your Home is Built Indoors

Once approvals are complete, your manufactured ADU is built inside a controlled factory environment. Factory construction provides consistent quality while site preparation continues simultaneously. The Backyard Home Company coordinates the factory order and delivery schedule with the selected manufacturer.

Step 7. Building the Foundation

This is where The Backyard Home Company stands apart. While your home is being built in the factory, our construction team prepares your property and builds a professionally engineered foundation designed specifically for your home and site conditions. Company documentation describes low-profile foundation systems with interior pads, piers, and concrete block perimeter walls intended to closely resemble site-built construction.

Step 8. Installation

After delivery, the home is carefully positioned on the engineered foundation, connected to utilities, completed on-site where necessary, and prepared for final inspections. Backyard Home Company coordinates every stage of the installation process until the home is ready for occupancy.

Step 9. Final Inspection

Ready to Move In!

Once inspections are complete and approvals are issued, your new backyard home is ready for occupancy. Our team remains available to answer questions and support you after project completion.
